Transportation…near and far
Doctors’ appointments, hospital tests, shopping, events, family visits or anything else you can conjure up. Families can request a written report after doctor appointments regarding follow ups, diagnosis, medication changes, etc. Assisted living communities find this service valuable as well. We take the client’s current medication list to the doctor, and return with a full report and any medication updates. We can also stop and get prescriptions filled if needed. No mileage charges and all drivers are licensed and fully insured. Flat rates: $35 for one hour; $55 for two hours.
Long distance trips (by plane or car) are flat rate quoted and based on whether your car, a rental car or our car is used, length of trip and requirements of driver/companion. This service gives our clients an opportunity to take a vacation, visit family that live out of town, attend events such as weddings, funerals and graduations. Wheelchair and walker compatible.
Short Private Duty Shifts
No need for someone to be in your home for long hours? We offer short shifts that provide enough time for light cleaning, meal preparation, laundry, linen changes or whatever else needs done. Sometimes just helping someone get started for the day is enough. Maybe just a bit of shopping, going to the bank or post office is enough.
This service has no requirement for how many days a week. We firmly believe sometimes this service keeps folks in their home longer. If longer shifts are needed, we can recommend quality owner-operated private duty agencies. Flat rates: $35 for one hour; $55 for two hours; $70 for three.
Live out of town and want to make sure your loved one is not overlooked, lonely or overmedicated? We have over 250 hours of advocacy training and are familiar with most long term care facilities in the St. Louis area. Some problems are easily solved with just a few visits. It can be as simple as a communication issue or as complicated as an inappropriate caregiver.
We can also oversee private duty so you can feel confident they are “doing their job” and can provide the missing pieces they sometimes require. It also gives the private duty company a local contact. $35 per hour.
Clean up—Clean out
Should I hold on to that paperwork? What do I do with these clothes I don’t like anymore? Does somebody need these extra coffee cups? We help organize, discard and donate. Up until the last five years, it seemed necessary to hold onto everything. Utility bills, bank statements, tax records and medical notifications. With the sweeping changes in technology, this no longer holds true, but some folks are overrun with old paperwork. This problem eats up storage space and poses a challenge for family members.
Most seniors want to get rid of stuff but are afraid and not knowledgeable about what to keep and what can go. We found a $3000 life insurance policy for one of our clients that had not been cashed in when her Mother passed and approximately $1000 in forgotten matured savings bonds for another client. We have helped people with just a few boxes to cleaning out an entire house for resale. $20 an hour
We can go to your home and help with paying bills OR manage monthly bills by paying them from our account and billing you for reimbursement. We can review invoices from hospitals, doctors, medical equipment companies to make sure the remaining amount to be paid is accurate, and that appropriate paperwork has been filed to Medicare.
It can be confusing when doctors, hospitals and other medical providers send out statements soon after the first bill is sent. As a result, some people pay twice or are unaware that Medicare should have been billed for the services. This certainly was true for one of our clients who had spent considerable time in rehabilitation. During this time, her bills went unpaid. When she contacted us she thought she owed $3000 (she had brought us her bills in a plastic grocery bag). After sorting, calling doctors and review, her bills were actually closer to $500. We have also reviewed cable, auto and other bills to be sure our clients are not paying for services they don’t need or want. Bill pay service: $35 an hour.
Power of Attorney
Need someone to help with bills, or healthcare issues? Is the paperwork you need in place? We have excellent resources for helping with these issues. Senior Care Advocates is fully bonded and insured. We work closely with elder lawyers in the St. Louis area and provide records as often as requested. $45 per hour.
No need to travel to lawyer, banker or other locations. We are the preferred provider for several Hospice agencies in the St. Louis area, whose patients need to have their Power of Attorney and HIPAA forms signed and notarized. We also have standard forms for Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare, HIPAA and Unlimited Power of Attorney. We will come to your home and notarize paperwork for a flat rate of $25.
